Is the Borgata Casino Atlantic City Still Open

December 7th, 2015 ernie Posted in Atlantic City | No Comments »

Borgata Casino AtlanticGamers who are wondering is the Borgata Casino Atlantic City still open will be pleased to hear that it is. They will not only be pleased to hear that it is, it is also doing very well. In fact for the year 2014, revenue was up 10.7% from a year earlier. It is too early to report 2015, but all indications are pointing in the same direction for the current year. There may be a number of reasons that they are doing well compared to the other casinos on the boardwalk.  Four casinos have closed and eight are still open. Of those that are still open, three lost money in 2014, while the others gained.

Is the Borgata Casino Atlantic City Still Open

The Borgata is located away from the boardwalk and some would argue that this is a competitive disadvantage. However once you are there, unless you take car, taxi or jitney, your pretty much going to spend your time at the Borgata. Coupled with the fact that it is relatively new and a nice place to stay at, the casino and hotel have actually grown in revenue year over year at a rate of 10.7%

It also must be managed well and financed well compared to the Revel, which was on the boardwalk and brand new. The Revel is closed and bankrupt. It may reopen, however it is too early to know what will take place with regards to the Revel.

With four casinos closing in 2014, the other remaining casinos have picked up their clientele. The Borgata has certainly benefited from this situation as well. Customers that would normally go to the Revel, Taj Mahal, Showboat, Plaza and the Atlantic Club are now going to the other hotels including the Borgata.

There is no doubt about it. The Borgata is the nicest hotel in Atlantic City and well worth the money when you stay in Atlantic City.

Laughlin Casinos and HotelsThere are 10 Laughlin Casinos and Hotels in the Laughlin Nevada area. We have listed them in alphabetical order later on in this post. They all have their positives and negatives. However for our money the Aquarius and the Golden Nugget are probably the nicest of them all. Some accept pets. Some have accommodations for RV parking. All but the Tropicana and the AVI are located next to the Colorado River. The Tropicana is across the street and within walking distance of the walkway that runs along the river to all of the hotels except for the AVI and Harrahs. Harrahs is located off by itself and really can only be reached by car, although it is in the town of Laughlin and on the river. The AVI is several miles away on Indian property, with a really great beach and pool area on the Colorado River.

Laughlin Hotels Best Prices

November 7th, 2015 ernie Posted in Laughlin | No Comments »

Laughlin Hotels Best PricesThere are several ways to find Laughlin hotel’s best prices. There are the usual ones such as going on one of the many travel web sites. However they are in the business of making money. They only get paid if you make a reservation with a hotel and pay through their website. The casino will never offer you prices based on your casino play for example. They will never offer you group deals and they will never offer you a negotiated price. You can find excellent deals and often the best prices that the hotel is offering online. However there are other ways to find Laughlin hotel’s best prices. Even the online prices by hotels are sometimes not what they will offer when you call direct and book a room. The best method by far is to comparison shop using all of the tools available to you.

Laughlin Hotels Best Prices – Slot Cards

By far the best approach, particularly if you have played the slots at any of the casinos in Laughlin is to call the casino and see if you are eligible for any casino rated rooms. Check the travel web sites first so that you know what the hotels are asking via the web site for a room on the dates that you are looking for. Armed with this knowledge, call the hotel-casino directly, give them your slot card number and request a room rate.

Chances are you have played the slots on previous trips and used your slot card. There is a good chance that you will be offered a reduced room rate or perhaps even a free room. If you are going to the casino and plan to play the slots you may as well get the best deal you can. Laughlin hotel’s best prices are always better than Las Vegas hotel deals. It is a smaller market and fewer hotels, however, they are competing with Las Vegas and must offer lower prices.

Always call the casino slot host for the best deals, what have you got to lose?

Millennials Prefer Skill Based Games

October 21st, 2015 ernie Posted in Online Gambling | No Comments »

Millennials Prefer Skill Based GamesCasinos across the country are reporting improved slot machine revenue. More players are coming to the casinos and they are playing larger amounts for each wager. This is good news since the recession years, 2008 – 2009 were pretty dismal for many casino’s. It is good news that patrons are returning to the casino floor, however, there is one group that is not showing up to gamble at the slot machines. These are the millennials, born in the 80’s and 90’s, fed a steady diet of interactive games on their computers, tablets and smart phones. Millennials prefer skill based games. They want the same experience in the casino and to date there are just not many slot machines that will provide this kind of experience.

Millennials Prefer Skill Based Games

As a result when millennials do go to the casino, they are playing poker, black jack and other skill based games. Gaming companies and the casinos are getting together to design new games that will deliver the interactive experience they are looking for as well as add a social element to the gaming experience.

Millennials are looking for interactive games that require some level of skill that they feel will give them a chance to win at the game. This is the basis of what they have been doing for the last 30 years as they play on their computers, game machines and smart phones.

They are also looking for a social aspect to the games. Many want to know how they are doing relative to other people who are playing. They want to be able compare, make comments and interact with other players. Millennials are able to achieve some levels of both skill and social elements when they play poker and black jack. However for the casinos to attract larger numbers of the millennial generation, they need to design interactive social slot machines to meet this need.

Look for regulations to change, for new games to appear on the casino floor over the next few years as the industry adapts to the changing demographic.

Millennials do not like Slot Machines

October 7th, 2015 ernie Posted in Slot Machines | No Comments »

Millennials do not like Slot MachinesContrary to the picture, millennials do not like slot machines that are the traditional reel type or the non interactive type of slot machines. They have been raised on interactive games that they play on their computers, tablets and smart phones. They are looking for something similar when it comes to gambling. The current crop of slot machines just does not do it for them. Millennials are in the age group that was born in the 1980’s and 1990’s. They have had a steady diet of online games growing up. This kind of environment is part of their persona.

Millennials do not like Slot Machines

Gaming companies and casinos in Las Vegas and other cities are beginning to see the effects of this shift in their customer base. Yes gambling revenues are up since the depression era of 2008 and 2009. But the people returning to the casinos are an older generation and not the millennials as we just mentioned.

As a result, gaming companies are working on a new style of more interactive games that they hope will appeal to this new generation of gamblers. It is not just the games that need to change. Regulators need to review the games, the rules, etc to ensure that the player has a real chance of winning something in addition to being entertained.

Younger gamblers appear to prefer poker, blackjack, online gaming, fantasy sports, and other such games. All of these types of games seem to have at least two attributes that attract them. The first is that it is interactive. They feel they can actually have an impact on the outcome of the game. In other words they like skill-based games. The second attribute is that they are also looking for the social aspect of the game. They want to feel that they are playing with or against other players. Even online gaming can offer this attribute by posting results compared to other players or allow them to play against each other directly.

Over the next couple of years watch for brand new skill-based interactive social slot machines making their way onto the casino floor!
