The Tortoise Rock casino 29 Palms just opened for business in April 2014. We decided to visit it and see if it measured up to the advertising they were doing on TV.  We are staying in Palm Springs. Going to the Tortoise Rock Casino 29 Palms takes about an hour to drive there. We left temperatures in Palm Springs at 80 degrees and found the temps much lower in the high desert, down around 60 degrees. This is just something you need to get used to when you head into the high desert around 29 Palms.

General comments about Tortoise Rock Casino 29 Palms

They have a really nice bar area at this casino that is bright and lots of room to sit and enjoy a drink. You can also play the slots at the bar as well.

One problem or at least a surprise was that the slot machines at the Tortoise Rock Casino 29 Palms are all old machines. We could see where they were marked and worn due to lot’s of previous use. They were not paying very well on the day we were there. We did not hit any jackpot and we did not see anyone else hitting any jackpot’s.

Patrons and have free non alcoholic drinks from two stations in the casino including coffee. You can also have an attendant bring you your drinks as well.

The ceilings are high giving a nice airy feeling to the casino and also there was lot’s of air movement which also helped deal with anyone that was smoking. Some casinos are really bad for not dealing with smokers and their smoke, but this one was quite good.

The View is Great

There is a great view from the front of the casino looking out over the valley and although the landscaping is not completed yet, we are sure it will look great in another few months.

This is a relatively small casino, however it has everything that you might look for. On busy evenings it may be difficult to obtain your favorite machine. They also have a small deli which was unremarkable.

Believe it or not but beer costs more than a glass of wine. A glass of wine costs $3.50 while a draft beer costs $4.00. Usually it is the other way around.

The Tortoise rock Casino 29 Palms is a local casino which will be attractive to locals in the high desert. We do not think it is worth the drive from Coachella valley to visit this casino.

The title of this post was chosen since so many people do not know how to spell Cassino, they in turn apparently choose to spell it as follows Casiono.

We decided to write a small post about this apparent misspelling of the word casino. Because people are looking for information about regular casinos in Las Vegas, Laughlin, Tunica, and Atlantic City. As well as online casinos that you play on your smartphone or desktop computer.

In fact with the middle class being squeezed and more people ending up in the lower-class situations, they have less to spend on vacation and on casinos. The Wynn casino provides opulent service to their patrons. From the casino floor, The restaurants, the fantastic rooms with a panoramic view of the Las Vegas strip, and high-end stores, this is a place that will attract the rich.

There is also the PGA level golf course attached to the casino with the 19th hole that is comparable to the best in the nation. They cater to the once in a lifetime golfing experience. This is for people who are looking for a challenging golf course as well as enjoying the nightlife in Las Vegas.

Their pool is in a secluded environment, with protection from the wind. It provides all of the security as well as privacy that you would like.

The price of course for the hotel is higher than any of the other hotels on the strip. As a result, it attracts a better clientele and higher room rate along with higher take rates at the casino. This is the prime reason why the Wynn casino conglomerate is doing much better than many of the other casino chains across the country. You can still find deals at this hotel just like all of the others. However, you will pay more on average for a room at the Wynn Casino. It is worth it!

The Wynn Casino in Las Vegas and their sister casino in Maccau are doing extremely well due to the improving economy in the US and around the world and another factor that has many people concerned for many different reasons.

It turns out that the economic recovery for many people is not quite the same. The top 10% of the population has done very well. While the rest of us including the middle class has not recovered financially to the same extent. The top 10% of the population who are heavily invested in the stock market have reaped huge gains over the past 5 years. The market increasing in value by trillions and well over 100% from its low point.

The middle class has been lucky to have a job. They may not invest in the stock market. They have not been doing well. They are lucky if they have maintained their financial security. They have not achieved the asset gains that the rich have gained. They do not have the disposable money that the rich among us have. If you do not have a pension to rely on, you may not be doing so well financially. What does this have to do with the Wynn Casinos?

Wynn Casino – Performs Well

Well, it turns out that the Wynn casinos are outperforming all of the other Las Vegas Casinos since the top 10% of the population who have money are flocking to the Wynn in Las Vegas and spending their money in luxury restaurants and gaming activities. The middle class is going to the other hotels and they are not spending nearly as much money! As a result, these other locations are not performing financially as well as the Wynn Chain of hotels and casinos.

You really have to hand it to Steve Wynn who designed and built these hotels. Whether he saw this shift in demographics or not his properties are doing very well as a result and the rest of Las Vegas is not able to keep up. The unfortunate fact is that the middle class is getting squeezed, however, this is the subject of another post as some future time.
